05 David: Anointed King in Bethlehem
In this 12 part series Mike taught on some of the primary leadership lessons that he has gleans from studying the life of David for many years. There is no one in the Old Testament who provides a greater picture of the ministry of Jesus, or the life of a dedicated believer than King David. Known as “the man after God’s own heart,” David excelled both as a lovesick gazer on God’s beauty and as a wise leader who brought his nation into victory and blessing both in seasons of war and times of peace. What was it that motivated God to choose David as king? How did God shape David for leadership and establish him on the throne? As we often fine, the Lord’s ways are not the ways we would choose. David’s preparation for kingship was found in serving a demonized king who sought to kill him. His servant leadership was further cultivated in the desert, where he found himself leading an army of discontented men who were distressed and in debt. Through adverse circumstances and the challenges of personal weakness, in rejection and favor, the Lord cultivated a leader He could use. The wisdom of David’s life provides us with valuable wisdom and strength or our personal journey. The 12 sessions include: 1. Overview: David, the Man After God’s Own Heart 2.
